We spoke with Mountain View alumnus Yeltsin Canini about what he is working on and what is next for him!
Bio:
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Yeltsin Canini is a developing artist whose work involves painting and drawing. Since 2018 as a Mountain View College art student, Yeltsin has been given the opportunity to exhibit his work in The Founders' Foyer of the Dallas Community College Headquarters as well as the League of innovation for the Texas Colleges in Cliff Gallery in Mountain View College. Throughout his experience in the college, he has developed a passion and love for Art History, so much so that he decided to become an Art Conservator. Yeltsin wants to preserve the art of previous master’s so the community can appreciate art and history of the past. Yeltsin is currently an art student at the University of Texas at Arlington.
What are you currently working on?
Right now I'm working on a painting piece is a adaptive piece and it's called Elita and hopefully work with drawings as well.
How is your studio space set up?
as of for right now my studio is in my living room working on the floor but I also have a rough draft table to do drawings in.
Who are your current favorite artists/artists that influence you?
So far I have four favorite artists:
- Timothy Von Rueden from Wisconsin and he's a drawing illustrator as well as digital.
- Yoan Lossel a French artist that does drawing as well as painting illustrations.
- Tran Nguyen illustrator that works with drawing and watercolor.
- Mmmmonexx a artist that does drawing illustrations but he does it sometimes in pencil sometimes in pen.
How do you feel your art has been impacted during quarantine?
Drawing and painting has kept me sane throughout the semester.
What are you looking forward to this semester?
To enhance my skills and to eventually have or make a portfolio.
